中国工程院院士、国家CIMS工程技术研究中心主任、国家973项目和863项目首席科学家、杭州电子科技大学名誉教授。中国企业综合信息化以及计算机集成制造系统（CIMS）领域的奠基人、中国先进制造技术学科的奠基人。长期从事复杂工业系统的建模、设计、优化、诊断、控制及应用。中国首例获得美国制造工程师学会“大学领先奖”和“工业领先奖”两项大奖的科学家，曾获国家教委科技进步一等奖、国家科技进步二等奖等多项国家奖励。针对多个行业的几百家企业的企业信息化系统，进行了科技攻关与实现，获得了显著的社会效益和经济效益。
Professor Cheng Wu is an Academician of Chinese Academy of engineering, a director of national CIMS Engineering Technology Research Center, a principle investigator of national 973 project and 863 project, and an Honorary Professor of Hangzhou Dianzi University. He laid a foundation to Chinese enterprise information and CIMS programs, and the discipline of advanced manufacturing technology. His research areas include modeling, design, optimization, diagnosis, control and complex industrial systems. He was the first Chinese recipient of the University Leading Award and the Industry Leading Award from ASME, USA. He has won the first prize of science and technology progress of National Education Commission, the second prize of National Science and Technology progress, China as well as other awards. He has developed the enterprise information systems for hundreds of industrial clients, yielding a remarkable social and economic impact.
